Ellie Goulding releases music video for ‘Army’, continues to appropriate the Bindi

Singer Ellie Goulding released her latest music video today titled “Army”, an anthem for friendship. Ellie Goulding has appropriated other people’s cultures for fashion and “costumes” multiple times before, and has been heavily criticized each time. From wearing a Native American Headdress “costume” as a preparation for Halloween (something she received support for, from…the absolutely disgusting Milo Yiannopoulos) as well as the Bindi which she often wears for fashion, something she also has ben criticized for.

Well, it seems that Ellie Goulding still hasn’t learn to respect cultures that aren’t hers, even when receiving criticism from people who experience discrimination based on their culture, race, religion or religious practices. In her latest music video, absolutely in no way related to anything Indian at all, Ellie Goulding continues to proudly and happily wear the Bindi….

“The bindi on the forehead is an ancient tradition in Hinduism and has religious significance. It is also sometimes referred to as the third eye and the flame, and it is an auspicious religious and spiritual symbol.”

“It is not meant to be thrown around loosely for seductive effects or as a fashion accessory aiming at mercantile greed.”

So. Yeah. Cultural Appropriation is SO MUCH FUN.
